Lafayette Courtyard by Marriott Ground Breaking

One day after a developer announced plans for two hotels in West Lafayette, another company broke ground for a new hotel in Lafayette.  State and local government leaders joined the future management team of a new Courtyard By Marriott on Farington Avenue off of State Road 26 East.  The group broke ground this morning at the three acre site next door to Homewood Suites.  A manager said the Courtyard is being built because other businesses in that area are doing well.

"We believe so much in the economic stability of the community we are adding a third hotel to our existing portfolio. We know it will add tremendous value and provide another dimension in furthering the rapid growth of the city of Lafayette," said Mike Cohen, Courtyard By Marriott Management.

"We're very pleased today to have here the Courtyard by Marriott be the newest hotel for the city of Lafayette. We look for a long term relationship with you and with your employees and we know that your success here will help spur other developments," said Tony Roswarski, (D) Lafayette Mayor.

The Courtyard is scheduled to be complete March 2009.
