Courtyard finds its Niche in Lafayette
LAFAYETTE -- Greater Lafayette's newest hotel, the Courtyard by Marriott, is making a name for itself in style and convenience.
Since opening in March, the Courtyard Lafayette has already become a favorite spot for Purdue University football fans as well as some of the area's top companies such as Caterpillar and Eli Lilly Tippecanoe Labs.
The Courtyard Lafayette is located at 150 Fairington Ave., off of State Route 26 near Interstate 65. While there is plenty of hotel competition in the area, Ting Lu, Courtyard's marketing and sales manager, said she believes there are a number of things that sets the hotel apart.
Lu said guest can receive Internet access from anywhere inside the hotel. The Bistro serves a light dinner, full bar and a daily breakfast. She said the hotel new design is unique for the Courtyard by Marriott, which changed its designed just recently.
She said there is a chef on staff who will make meals to order instead of the buffet one would find a many area hotels. If that's not enough to attract you, the 24-hour Starbucks may be the clincher.
"We're one of the first in the country with this design," Lu said of the "million dollar" lobby with a touch screen GoBoard, which gives visitors information on different hot spots in town. There is a local shuttle service and Star of America now provides shuttle service to and from Indianapolis International Airport.
There is an indoor pool and fitness center. Lu said if customers desire something bigger, the hotel has passes some other fitness centers in the area.
Lu said the hotel has played host of dozens of weddings and corporate events since its opening, She said the hotel has been using Facebook and Twitter and announce specials and deals, another new twist for hotels.
"We have excellent customer service and go beyond customer needs," Lu said. "People really enjoy it. It's well worth your money to stay here."
